Director of Programming and Training (Overseas)
Role
Directors of Programming and Training (Overseas) manage, advise and develop staff who are responsible for programming and training activities in the country of assignment. They are responsible for:
- Supervising and developing a team of professional program and training staff; and coordinating work assignments and Volunteer site placements and development.
- Overseeing the analysis and implementation of program management processes for developing training competencies.
- Identifying learning and evaluating objectives to prepare staff and Volunteers to meet the expectations of project partners.
- Guiding coordination between program and training staff, and other work units at post, to ensure effective strategic planning.
- Analyzing and monitoring external, technical and budgetary issues that impact a country program, and making appropriate recommendations about them.
Supervision/Guidance and Length of Tour
They work under the general supervision of the Country Director and are expected to serve in an assigned country for a minimum of 2 ½ years (one 30-month tour), or a maximum of 5 years (two 30-month tours). Directors of Programming and Training (Overseas) assume the responsibility for the country post in the absence of the Country Director.
Qualifications
While many of these positions do not require fluency in a language, some do. We anticipate a specific need for fluent French, Portuguese and Spanish speakers.
